ALTOONA, Pa. (WJAC) — A new "all abilities" playground and park is now open in Altoona.

Organizers with the Central-Blair Recreation and Park Commission celebrated and dedicated the recreational area, naming it “Garden Heights Park."

Organizers say they're "very excited" about their accomplishment and say they've received appreciation from the surrounding community.

"Where we're standing, this used to be a kind of not-so-great basketball court. So, we were able to take out the basketball court, and reuse and repurpose this space to something that the community can be proud of."

The park is located at 205 Lowell Avenue in Altoona.
