TAVARES, Fla. (TND) — This is the case of an apparent repeat offender. Police say he trespassed twice in three days with a hospital stay in between.
Officers in Florida got called about a man seen at a shopping center “after being previously trespassed with warning,” last Friday afternoon, May 17, his arrest report said. “The description of the subject was a [man] wearing a black shirt and hospital pants.”Along the way, dispatch reported another officer “was out with a Michael Bomber” the night before and had entered the trespass in the police computer.
“Michael Bomber was given a verbal trespass warning before he left,” and paramedics took him away, according to the arrest report. Those earlier medical details were not mentioned.
Then, the officer described what happened when he arrived and found the man “with a black shirt and hospital pants.
“I asked him what his name was, and he responded, ‘Michael Bomber.’
“When I asked if he was aware of his trespass last night, he advised he was aware of it.
“I explained to him he was under arrest for his trespass after warning.“Mr. Bomber then became aggressive and stepped into a competitive stance saying, ‘if you touch me I'll punch you in the face.’“I then gave Mr. Bomber a lawful command to turn around and submit to hand restraints.
“He refused my verbal order and repeated, ‘Touch me and I will punch you in the face.’
“I gave my lawful order again to turn around and submit to hand restraints, yielding negative results.
“I stepped forward to attempt a custodial hold on Mr. Bomber. He then resisted my custodial hold and struck me on my upper left lip with a closed fist.“Due to the escalation and resistance, I utilized a take-down maneuver and brought Mr. Bomber to the ground.“Mr. Bomber continued to resist while on the ground until I utilized a shoulder lock to gain pain compliance.”
That worked, and he was arrested.
Finally, “Due to sustaining a few cuts and Mr. Bomber making remarks of chest pains, EMS was called to evaluate Mr. Bomber.”
He was taken to the hospital and then to jail.
His previous arrest took place two days earlier, on Wednesday, May 15.
Twice that morning, police were called to a motel where he’d been staying as a guest.
The call at about 5:30 a.m. was “in reference to a subject who had returned to the property after being trespassed earlier in the morning.”
That arrest report said, “According to fellow officers on scene, night shift had responded to the premises at approximately 3:52 a.m. in reference to Michael Bomber behaving belligerently and threatening hotel staff.“Officers informed Mr. Bomber that he could either return to his room peacefully or be trespassed from the property.“Mr. Bomber chose to be trespassed.“Two hours later, Mr. Bomber returned to the property and, again, became belligerent with staff.
“[Dispatch operators] could hear Mr. Bomber make threatening statements including that he would jump across the desk and blow the complaint’s head off.“He further stated he would ‘cut your throat’ to hotel staff.“After arriving on scene for a second time, officers again gave Mr. Bomber the choice to either leave the property or be arrested.“Mr. Bomber stated he would like to be arrested.”So he was.
Wednesday morning, he was charged with trespassing, and he spent 33 hours in jail before his release in lieu of $1,000 bond.
Then, at the shopping center 26 hours later, he was charged with trespassing after warning and resisting with violence.
Bond for the 69-year-old was set at $6,000 and he has not paid it.
