Boil-water advisory issued for Ebensburg area

May 2024 · 1 minute read

A boil-water advisory has been issued for the Ebensburg area.

According to the Ebensburg Municipal Authority, a water-line break on South Center Street has caused high levels of cloudiness, known as turbidity, in the water.

Officials with the water company say they cannot confirm when the advisory will be lifted.

According to officials, turbidity by itself has no health effects, but may indicate the presence of disease-causing organisms that can cause nausea, cramps, diarrhea and headaches.

The area affected by the advisory includes Ebensburg Borough and Cambria Township south of Triumph Street and east of Center Street, including Manor Drive and Wilmore Road.

Critical facilities in the affected area include the Cambria County Prison and the Cambria County 911 Center.

Officials say all affected customers should boil their water for one minute before letting it cool and drinking it.
