WOODBURY, Pa. (WJAC) — One person is dead after a massive fire Sunday night at a post office in Bedford County, according to county coroner Rusty Styer.
Residents in the area tell 6 News that the post office in Woodbury Borough along the 100 block of Main Street also had apartment buildings. Styer says they found the deceased was found on the first floor of the building and an autopsy is scheduled for Monday July 5th.
“We do have one confirmed fatality and at this point we didn't make an id yet but we do have an idea who it is. We just have to go through the testing and confirm who it is,” said Bedford County Coroner Rusty Styer.
The fire started around 6:30 Sunday night and crews were on scene for hours to put out the massive flames as it rekindled several times. Part of the building’s roof caved in and once the fire was finally out an excavator was brought in to demolish parts of it.
6 News is working to learn what caused the fire. Stay with WJAC on air and online for updates.
