With more than 1,000 episodes (and counting), there have been dozens of NCIS crossover episodes over the years from the franchise’s four American shows: NCIS, NCIS: Los Angeles, NCIS: New Orleans, and NCIS Hawai’i. But what are the NCIS crossover episodes in order? Well, we did the research to find the best order to watch all 60-plus NCIS crossover episodes, including the franchise’s collaborations with other CBS shows. (After all, NCIS started as a spin-off of Jag!)
NCIS premiered on CBS on September 23, 2003, as a military police procedural drama revolving around a fictional team of special agents from the Naval Criminal Investigative Service (also known as the NCIS), a federal law enforcement a part of the United States Department of the Navy that investigates crimnial activities involving the Navy and the United States Marine Corps, as well as their families.
The original NCIS is set in Washington D.C. The first NCIS spin-off, NCIS: Los Angeles, premiered in 2009 and was set in Los Angeles, California. The second spin-off, NCIS: New Orleans, premiered in 2014 and was set in New Orleans, Louisiana. The third spin-off, NCIS: Hawai’i, premiered in 2021 and is set in the island of Oahu in Hawaii. The fourth spin-off and first international spin-off, NCIS: Sydney, premiered in 2023 and is set in Sydney, Australia. A fifth spin-off, NCIS: Origins, is in the works and will center around a younger version of NCIS original character, Special Agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs, played by Mark Harmon.
While NCIS: New Orleans ended in 2021 after seven seasons and NCIS: Los Angeles ended in 2023 after 14 seasons, there are no signs that the NCIS franchise is stopping any time soon. The franchise celebrated its 1000th episode on April 15, 2024, with NCIS Season 21, Episode 7, “A Thousand Yards.”
“It’s so cool to see all the shows come together to celebrate today,” Wilmer Valderrama, who plays Nicholas Torres on NCIS, told Entertainment Tonight in April 2024. “This is their win as [much as] anyone else’s, you know?”
He continued, “Everyone has contributed to these 1,000 episodes — seeing their faces and seeing how proud they are to be here, I think that’s also something that we are definitely gonna remember.”
