Cambria Veterinary Care hosted a ribbon cutting for their new facility for farm animals Saturday afternoon.
Officials said the clinic will be suited to provide care for animals like horses, cows, pigs and more.
Large animal veterinarian Dr. Aubrey Vena-Erisman said that she returned to her hometown to serve local animals after years of being away.
She said, “I am pumped to be back. I’ve been away from home for almost a decade now and it’s exciting to be back in the area and give back to the community that built me. I grew up in agriculture around here so it’s really fun to be able to come back and offer my skill set.”
Vena’s mother and president of Cambria Veterinary Care Dr. Johanna Vena said that she hopes to hold tours, classes, and job shadowing at the clinic.
She said she hopes this will encourage more people in the area to become large animal veterinarians.
She said, “It’s getting harder and harder to recruit large animal veterinarians. It’s not an easy job, but a clinic like this does make it much more doable. It’s much safer, it’s much more efficient. So, this will make the most out of a large animal veterinarians time.”
Officials said the clinic also houses a fully equipped mobile unit that can visit farms in emergency situations. They said the new facility is currently accepting large animal clients.
