WINDBER, Pa. (WJAC) — A Windber man is facing charges after punching a woman while she was holding a baby, driving away, crashing and then stealing beer from Sheetz, according to police.
Authorities say 38-year-old Shawn Stephens is facing simple assault, terroristic threats, endangering the welfare of children and DUI charges.
According to a criminal complaint, the incident happened Monday at a home along Locust Street when Stephens picked up the baby, threw the child to the woman and then punched her in the face.
Police say Stephens was reportedly intoxicated when he assaulted the woman and then drove away in a vehicle before crashing near the Bilo in Windber and then running to Sheetz and stealing two beers.
Stephens is being held in the Cambria County Prison on $100,000 bail.
He has a preliminary hearing scheduled for March 17.
