State police in Bedford County have charged a man for burglarizing a local dog grooming business while "searching for his daughter," according to a criminal complaint.

Troopers say 33-year-old Joseph Metz, of Bedford, has been charged with felony burglary, criminal trespass and criminal mischief for breaking into Doggie Styles Grooming earlier this month.

Investigators say on the afternoon of Aug. 12, troopers were processing Metz for a separate incident when he admitted to breaking into the business, located along Feathers Road in Kimmel Township.

Metz reportedly told troopers that he broke into the business because he was looking for his daughter, and that the business was owned by his ex-mother-in-law, the complaint states.

Troopers say Metz admitted to removing an air conditioner in order to gain entry into the business and that once inside, he "opened things" to look for his daughter.

Investigators later interviewed the owner of the business who confirmed that she returned later that day, Aug. 12, to find a window open and her air conditioner broken.

Metz was arraigned Friday and is being housed at the Bedford County Prison, on $25,000 bail, according to court documents.

His preliminary hearing is scheduled for Sept. 8.
