Thanksgiving concluded on General Hospital, and it was no surprise that the Quartermaines ended up chowing down on pizza gain. Austin’s cold, dead, likely rotting by now body was finally discovered, and did we just meet Pikeman? Let’s dish about all that happened in Port Charles this week.
Nina Versus Michael – Stop the Insanity!
In last week’s column, I was thankful that Drew and Michael didn’t show up at the Quartermaine Thanksgiving, but alas Michael, Willow and family finally did attend. Drew of course was off with his main squeeze Carly and her family. Naturally, Michael was not pleased that Nina dropped by the Q’s, even though she was called by Lois to save their Thanksgiving with pizza from the Metro Court. Michael took no time in reminding her she wasn’t honoring their deal. Hey Michael, do you want pizza or not? She was called in to save your family dinner and you go out of your way to be nasty even after she told Wiley she couldn’t stay. He later had the nerve to suggest Nina was pushing Sonny to suggest they have Christmas dinner together. I cheered when Nina finally told Michael that maybe she was tired of paying his price for his silence.
Michael, in trying to protect his father and family from the pain of revealing Nina’s secret, is simply causing more pain. He’s hurting Wiley, who loves Nina, and even Willow is trying to repair their relationship. Plus, I can’t help but think deep down, he likes being able to keep Nina away and make her squirm and suffer. He’s had no problem hurting his dad in the past, so why not do it again?

At this point, Nina just needs to fess up, if only to end this storyline that has dragged on far too long. She has to know the secret will eventually come out, especially now that she knows Ned is back and knows what she did too. At the same time, if Nina’s life is going to be blown up, Michael’s should too. His plot against Sonny needs to be exposed. Sure Michael didn’t go through with it, but only because Willow begged him not to. What Michael was going to do isn’t that much different than what Nina did, and yes Michael, your mommy DID commit a crime just like the ones you wanted your daddy to go down for!
Who Killed Austin?
Well, it took long enough for Austin’s dead body to finally be found, and now Dante and Chase are on the case of who killed him. And of course, the prime suspect is Ava. Dante questioned Mason about his cousin, but when is he going to question Cyrus after what Sonny told him about their connection? Does Cyrus even know Austin is dead at this point? Frankly, I don’t see Cyrus having killed Austin, as it seems Austin was more valuable to him alive than dead. So who killed Austin and why?
Well, we got a hint this week when Ava received a note saying “You’re welcome” along with a Polaroid of Austin’s dead body. And yes, they still make Polaroids. Could Ryan possibly have come back from the dead and killed Austin due to his obsession with Ava? It sounds like something he’d do for her. Then again, Austin seemed surprised, not scared, when he found the someone in his home who shot him. Unless he thought Ryan was Kevin? Nikolas also seems like a possible contender, but would he kill the man who saved his life? He might if he learned Austin had romantic feelings towards Ava, and why Austin saved him in the first place.
Oh an Ava, you better stick around to make sure that note and photo of Austin you threw in the fireplace turns completely to ashes!
Pikeman is That You?
Friday’s episode finally answered a major question that has been left untouched until now as Charles Mesure appeared as Pikeman, aka Mr. Brennan. I have to commend the casting of Mesure in this role, as he’s a damn good actor, and very easy on the eyes. In his first scene Brennan had more chemistry with Carly than Drew does. Then again, the kitchen countertop moss has more charisma and charm than Drew. It was clear he was interested in Carly, but maybe not in a romantic way. When Hume reported to him that Sonny is refusing to move more product and is out, it seems pretty obvious that Brennan won’t hesitate to use Carly to force Sonny’s hand. As he told Carly, he could guarantee they’d see one another again!

Yuri Helps Save the Day – Plus, a Proposal!
The best thing about the silly Russian mob storyline of Gloria’s was that we got some Yuri screentime. Yuri looks like a nice boy, but he’s not always a nice boy as he put it. Cyrus Hobbi is so good with the comedic lines Yuri gets, so I can’t believe the show isn’t making more use of him! As for Gloria, just apologize to Petrov for upsetting his wife! Seriously, if a mobster was out to kill one of my dogs and all he wanted was an apology, I’d give him one while kissing his shoes!
More: Rena Sofer on returning to the role of Lois
Before Gloria left, she wondered when Brook Lynn and Chase would be getting married. That led to Lois later bringing up the subject, which Brook Lynn was quick to shoot down. However it clearly wasn’t something Chase wanted to dismiss, and he surprised Brook Lynn by proposing. I didn’t see that coming at all. Sadly in the previews for Monday, it seems she wants him to forget those words came out of his mouth. Brook Lynn are you crazy? As Beyonce and Lois said, “I you like/love it then you should put a ring on it!”

Final Stray Storyline Thoughts
So Maxie’s in credit card debt due to having frozen income from Deception and only making minimum payments. Felicia’s going to help her out, but is this storyline going anywhere? Or was it just a chance to comment on the issue of credit card debt and outrageous interest rates and fees?
It appears that Felicia may have realized Cody lied to Mac about being his son, so how long will it take for her to confront him about this?
Portia was at least hospitable to Spencer on Thanksgiving, but given that she though he was finally out of Trina’s life, I give her until after Christmas to begin scheming to break them up somehow.
No one was surprised to see Kristina again offered to be Molly’s surrogate after Andrea lost the baby. And I still don’t think the show has figured out no one really cares about this story.
So Drew has missed so much of Scout’s life and his solution is to send her to private school? Given Sam mentioned they could drive to it, and Kristina also went there, it at least doesn’t sound like a boarding school. However, Sam has noticed something has changed in Drew. Yeah he’s embracing his Quartermaine genes and acting like an ass!
That wraps up my opinions for this week’s episodes. As always, leave your thoughts and comments below and join in on the discussion!
