Sony Music Inks Deal With Independent Hip-Hop Labels Selfmade and Division

GERMANY (CelebrityAccess) – Sony Music has just inked a partnership deal to distribute the entire catalog of two of Europe’s most prominent independent hip-hop labels – Selfmade and Division.

The catalog includes nine No.1 albums, while the deal also covers distribution of future album releases by the two labels.

Additionally, Elvir Omerbegovic, Managing Partner and co-founder of Selfmade Records, has been named President of Urban Music, Sony Music Germany. In this new role, Omerbegovic will join forces with Patrick Mushatsi Kareba, CEO of Sony Music GSA, and Daniel Lieberberg, President Sony Music Entertainment Continental Europe & Africa, while continuing to lead Selfmade’s label business.

Commenting on the news, Omerbegovic said: “I have known Patrick Mushatsi Kareba and Daniel Lieberberg for many years. They share our vision of progressive urban music. Sony Music is very ambitious and we look forward to a productive collaboration between our teams.”

Mushatsi Kareba added: “I look forward to working with Elvir, his team and his exciting artists. The entire Sony Music family will be the sparring partner for his pioneering work to supplement another successful chapter.”

The labels’ rosters currently include the 257ers, Karate Andi, RIN, Kynda Gray and Yugo.
