CAMBRIA COUNTY, Pa (WJAC) — Authorities in Cambria County say a Cresson man is facing charges following a months-long child pornography investigation that spanned multiple states.
According to the affidavit, investigators were first contacted after officers with the Tampa Police Department discovered an Internet Dropbox containing multiple files of suspected child pornography.
Police say the images and videos, 8 in total, all depicted young boys engaging in various sexual acts.
Authorities say Tampa Police then interviewed a suspect, connected to the Dropbox, who told police that he paid someone on Twitter $50 for the files, but claimed that he believed the files contained adult pornography images.
Investigators say the Twitter and PayPal accounts used in said transaction were eventually traced to 20-year-old Xabier Muino, of Cambria County.
Police say last July, officers conducted a search of Muino's Cresson Borough home where authorities seized multiple devices.
During his initial interview with police, investigators say Muino allegedly admitted to being "tech savvy" and to "seeing" and sharing child pornography on Twitter.
Authorities say he also allegedly admitted to selling various files of child pornography for approximately one year, and stated that he had made over $1,000 by doing so.
Police say a search of Muino's phone led to the discovery of the "links" that he sold on social media, which he reportedly hid on the "Notes" app.
Investigators noted that the "links" have since been taken down.
According to online court records, Muino was arraigned Friday on charges of felony dissemination of photos of child sex acts and criminal use of a communication device.
He was released on unsecured bail.
