UNDATED (WKRC) - A TikToker claimed an Airbnb host charged her around $924 for using the pool table, the television and other things around the property.
According to The Daily Dot, a video was posted to TikTok on May 8, in which a woman, identified by the outlet as Joanna Anderson, is heard negotiating with her Airbnb host.
“So I’m here at this nice Airbnb, but it’s not so nice, because there’s notes everywhere,” Joanna Anderson says in the video, which eventually went viral and has been viewed over 11 million times.
The video then cuts to several laminated notes found inside the residence, all of which appear to put restrictions and/or add fees for usage on whatever they've been taped to.
"The washing machine will be charged at €5.00 per wash. No exceptions," one note read.
"Do NOT use this toilet for Number 2. If you block this toilet, you will be charged a mandatory €1000 fee," another read.
Another note was seen posted on a chair, which read, "DO NOT sit in this chair, it was my deceased husband's favourite one," while a note on the pool table informed guests they would need to pay 5 per day to use it.
A sign on the television informed Anderson that she would need an access code to use the device and would be charged €5 per day if she did so. Another note on the microwave read "No meat or animal products allowed," while another note on the fridge read, "This is a vegan household, respect that."
Guests at the Airbnb were not permitted to bathe or shower after 8 p.m. because the host was "saving water."
After checking out of the Airbnb, Anderson received an email from the host requesting 740 ($924.90) extra for everything she had allegedly used during her stay.
“You used the pool table twice, and there’s a charge on the pool table,” the host can be heard telling Anderson over the phone.
When Anderson asked how the host would know if she used the pool table twice, the woman only replied that things had been left out of place.
"Honey she has cameras in the house that's scary," a commenter on the viral TikTok wrote.
"Tell her to PROVE the charges to Airbnb & you! PROVE you used them," another wrote.
The host tells Anderson that all the extra fees had been listed when she signed the agreement to rent the location. Anderson, however, disputed that claim and said she would bring up the issue with Airbnb.
It remains unclear how or if the situation was resolved.
"Airbnb should refund you the totality and delist that property from their app forever," a top commenter wrote.
"I worked at Airbnb. She’s not allowed to list additional charges. It’s against their TOS," another wrote.
