MIAMI, FL (CelebrityAccess Staff Writers) — Music business manager, promoter, and former radio host “Uncle Mel” Haber passed away in a Miami hospital on Sunday night at the age of 77.
Mel Haber had been credited with helping pull musical groups out of financial problems and getting them back on the road.
He worked throughout the past decade as a manager for KC and the Sunshine Band, and was instrumental in getting the band back on their feet and back on tour. Harry Wayne Casey, better known as KC, told the Miami Herald, “Mel was one of the kindest and most caring men I have ever been blessed to know.”
His career in entertainment began with simple motion picture marketing and promotion, and continued with a radio show in the 1940s and early ‘50s, on which he earned the nickname “Uncle Mel.”
Over the years, Haber worked with other artists as a manager and financial consultant, such as Menudo and Tito Puente Jr. –by CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
