Great Sky Island Shrines Zelda Tears of the Kingdom

July 2024 · 3 minute read

There are four Great Sky Island shrines in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom, Ukouh, In-Isa, Gutanbac and Nachoyah. Each of these places grants you one of the four basic powers that you’ll need on your adventures, and also teaches you how to use them. Therefore, they are relatively easy compared to shrines that come later. Which doesn’t mean that you can’t get stuck on them, of course. In this guide, we will show you where the Great Sky Island shrines are and how to solve them.

  • Ukouh Shrine in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom Great Sky Island

The first of the Great Sky Island shrines in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom you’re likely to come across is Ukouh. This is where you get the Ultrahand ability. It’s a pretty simple shrine. You first use Ultrahand to move the giant stone slabs to create bridges for yourself (and a ramp to reach a chest on an elevated platform). The last room teaches you that this ability also lets you glue stuff together. Put a hook on the flat part of the wood slab and place the hook onto the zipline, then ride the platform to the end. Easy-peasy. For more detailed instructions, check out our Ukouh Shrine guide.

Zelda Tears of the Kingdom Great Sky Island In-Isa Shrine

The In-Isa shrine in Great Sky Island is a bit more difficult. It is where you get the power to fuse certain items, and also teaches you how to attach stuff to your arrows to grant them different effects. The very first room requires you to fuse a sword with a rock and use it to break the rocks blocking your way. In the next room, you can break the pillars in the same way to get a chest, and the room to the right is where you learn how to make fire arrows. That grants you another chest. Through the big door is the final room, where you have to fight an enemy by fusing weapons on your own. For a full walkthrough, read our In-Isa Shrine guide.

Gutanbac Shrine in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom Great Sky Island

The Zelda Tears of the Kingdom Gutanbac shrine on Great Sky Island is where you learn one of the handiest abilities in the whole game, Ascend. This lets you teleport through a platform (or any surface) directly above you. As far as puzzles go, it’s pretty simple; you just need to ascend through platforms. The only “puzzle” is the part you have to cut down some ropes to lower a bridge that you can ascend to. In that same room, there are a few boxes in the wall you should break, go into that niche, and ascend to a chest. Beyond all that, it’s easy. If you do get stuck, head on over to our Gutanbac Shrine guide.

Nachoyah Shrine Zelda Tears of the Kingdom

The fourth and most likely final shrine you’ll run into on Great Sky Island in Nachoyah, where to learn Recall. This power lets Link rewind time for a specific object, meaning that you’ll mostly use it on rocks that have fallen from the sky to get up to sky archipelagos in the overworld. As for the shrine, you first have to use Recall to make the rafts go the other direction. In the last room, there’s a giant cog that you can make go the other way to reach a chest. The main puzzle requires you to wait for the giant hands to match up, then use recall to make them go in a circle together. Full details in our Nachoyah Shrine guide.
